About Our Team
History of Abbington Alligators
The Abbington Alligators kick off the 2021 swim season competing in the southern league of the Tarheel Swim Association (TSA). Having first fielded a team in 1999, Abbington has grown from a team with only 50 swimmers to one with over 200. Development of current swimmers, combined with a recent boost of swimmers from the new addition of houses, has allowed Abbington to compete as a neighborhood-only swim team against the top swim clubs in the TSA.
While Abbington has more the tripled in size since its beginning a decade ago, the coaching staff and parent board members have kept the team focused on fun as well as competition. Junior Gators receive individual help from the junior coaches to help make sure they learn the strokes, have fun at practice, and don’t get left behind at swim meets. The head coach and assistant coaches include collegiate swimmers who provide excellent training and instruction to the Gators.
Abbington has recently produced champions not just in the Raleigh and Cary city meets, but also at all levels of swimming including the NCHSAA championships, college, national, and even international swim meets. And it all begins right here in the Abbington subdivision. If you are considering moving to the Raleigh area and have an established top-ranked senior swimmer or promising junior swimmer, Abbington is the neighborhood you should strongly consider. From “race participant” to “heat winner” to “blue ribbon” in the city meets, your son or daughter will get the best training and have the most fun here in Abbington!
